A pawsitive attitude

There are over 250,000 stray dogs on the island of Puerto Rico. Rescue organisations such as Amigos de los Animales (ADLA) do as much as they can, but with numbers so high, it must feel like it is a drop in the bucket. Combining education in social responsibility, an accessible spay and neutering program and of course an adoption program for those dogs lucky enough to have found their forever homes.
I will be returning to Puerto Rico this year, not so much as a vacationer, but to try and help just a little and hopefully make a difference in the lives of a few of the dogs. I have vacationed in Puerto Rico before, staying mostly in and around San Juan. This time, I plan to spend a few days seeing a bit more of the island, a much needed break from a busy work year, before heading to ADLA for the remainder of my stay. I'm not sure what to expect from this volunteer adventure, but with a 'pawsitive' attitude and a pocketful of dog treats - I'm about to find out!
